Indus Valley creations

We had fun with our study of the Indus Valley. There were lots of crafts that the boys could get in on. And what boy doesn't love the chance to use a knife without getting in trouble?

My only complaint with this unit in Tapestry of Grace is how short the amount of time is that is spent studying what was going on in the rest of the world. An entire unit on Biblical event, a week on every other culture, and then quickly back to biblical events again. There were so many major things going on in other cultures during this time that are just glossed over. I think when we go through this on the next round I will plan ahead and abbreviate some of the repeated Bible stories that they are all so familiar with already and spend a few extra weeks on Mojenjo Daro and things like that. Perhaps the Battle of Troy deserves a week rather than a day? And Buddhism and Hinduism are being lumped together in a week. Maybe they could have their own week each. Oh well. We live we learn. Right?

ToG still makes an incredible spine for our studies. It's nice having a go through it during the grammar stage to formulate scheduling ideas for dialect and rhetoric. It's like a wonderful practice run where you don't have to worry too much about what they're missing because you know you'll have a better plan wen you get back to it.
