Kids Cook Monday: Muesli from Switzerland

It's week two of our cooking expedition through UNICEF's the Little Cooks Cook Book!  This week our taste buds visit Switzerland as we make something called Bircher Muesli.  I'm not sure for which meal they would make this in its homeland, but we thought it looked like a pretty good breakfast item.

We adapted the recipe to our taste a bit, using dried cranberries instead of raisins, and leaving out the hazelnuts altogether.   The adapted recipe that we came up with is in the slide show.  Check it out!

The kids, even the pickiest among them, really liked this one and have now planned their own trip to Switzerland to see what else they'd like to devour.  No worries, though.  I'm pretty sure their allowance won't get them to Switzerland for a few more years.  Until then, they can dream about what other fantastic fare awaits their arrival!

  1. Mmm, muesli! I ate this for breakfast so many mornings in Prague! The "czech-fast" alternative was never as appealing to me: hard-boiled eggs, raw peppers, and salami!
